The Viper SD 4 completes flight approval and flies in New Zealand skies
The European built Viper SD4 two seat light sport aircraft has been given first of type approval for New Zealand and a permit to fly from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority as a class two microlight with a maximum takeoff weight of 600kg.
Wilson Aviation ltd the aircraft's only dealer for New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific said the"first aircraft arrived in Tauranga on the 29th of Januaryafter a long boat voyage from Europe and was reassembled in just a few day. The Viper S D 4 underwent its inspection and literally flew through its two hour test flight".
Wilson Aviations CEO Ewan Wilson said 'I flew the aircraft over the heart of the Waikato last week and she handled like a dream. At a low cruise speed of90 knots it was burning about 11 litres offuel per hour. This aircraft is in my opinion the most advanced light sport aircraft in New Zealand, with its sophisticated flight navigation system and synthetic terrain mapping.
It has a state of the art ballistic rescue system which adds a level of safety unseen in New Zealand at an affordable level. The all metal aircraft has a cruise speed of 220kmand an endurance of over 1150km. The Viper SD4 will change the way pilots are trained. With operating costs of approximately $50 per hour the Viper SD4 will become the aircraft of choice for recreational pilots."

Wilson Aviation ltd of Hamilton has announced they have signed an exclusive 6 year partnership agreement with aircraft manufacture Tomark Aero a division of Tomark S.R.O based in Presov Slovakia.
Tomark is the manufacture of the Viper SD 4 light sport aircraft and the new agreement will see Wilson Aviation ltd entrusted with exclusive sales rights for the Viper SD 4 for New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific.
The Viper SD4 is an all metal two seater low wing aircraft designed for the flight school and recreational flying market. The aircraft's outstanding performance is complemented by the latest navigation, communication and monitoring systems including ballistic recovery system. It offers the recreational flyer levels of comfort and safety only previously offered by jetliners.

As part of the new agreement Wilson Aviation has purchased two Viper SD 4 aircraft which will arrive in New Zealand before the end of this year and will establish a hanger and maintenance facility in the Waikato.The base model Viper SD 4 will sell for $120, 000.NZD including freight and GST and the top of the line model will retail for $190,000 NZD
