    Media statement

The Viper SD 4 completes flight approval and flies in New Zealand skies

The European built Viper SD4 two seat light sport aircraft has been given first of type approval for New Zealand and a permit to fly from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority as a class two microlight with a maximum takeoff weight of 600kg.

Wilson Aviation ltd the aircraft's only dealer for New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific said the  "first aircraft arrived in Tauranga on the 29th of January  after a long boat voyage from Europe and was reassembled in just a few day. The Viper S D 4 underwent its inspection and literally flew through its two hour test flight".

Wilson Aviations CEO Ewan Wilson said 'I flew the aircraft over the heart of the Waikato last week and she handled like a dream. At a low cruise speed of  90 knots it was burning about 11 litres of  fuel per hour. This aircraft is in my opinion the most advanced light sport aircraft in New Zealand, with its sophisticated flight navigation system and synthetic terrain mapping.

It has a state of the art ballistic rescue system which adds a level of safety unseen in New Zealand at an affordable level. The all metal aircraft has a cruise speed of 220km   and an endurance of over 1150km. The Viper SD4 will change the way pilots are trained. With operating costs of approximately $50 per hour the Viper SD4 will become the aircraft of choice for recreational pilots."

The base model starting from just NZD$95 0000 plus shipping and GST it's all so very affordable.  The first aircraft will be based in Hamilton and has the registration ZK EAW"
